Graffiti Art – Old Town Building Portland

Graffiti Art – Old Town Building Portland

After working together on several other mural installs in the area, the Old Town Association reached out to see if we could create a mural including graffiti art for the abandoned building where Dirty Nightlife used to exist. The available wall space is right next to Union Gospel Mission. Therefore, everyday a line forms for those in need of food and shelter. The Old Town Association wanted to provide something motivational and interesting for the community to look at. For example, we felt big and bold graffiti art would be a nice addition to the area.

We worked with an artist from Salem that has iconic work all over Oregon. His work often includes graffiti lettering and characters. For this piece, he painted the phrase “Rise Up” in traditional bubble letters. Although we suggested this phrase to address the country’s struggles with the pandemic and protests, it also supports the homeless community located in Old Town.

All nearby businesses and the Old Town Association appreciated the new artwork. Overall, the goal was to raise community moral and elevate spirits through public art. This outdoor graffiti art was created by our art advisory for the Together We Grow Community Art Project located in Portland, Oregon.
