Mural Art Walk – Rialto Poolroom Woman Wall Mural

Our client, Rialto Poolroom located in Portland, Oregon, inquired about our art consulting services to have us facilitate numerous art installations for their downtown playroom and bar. They provided access to large windows spanning two city blocks on the exterior of their building for artists to utilize as canvases for their artwork.

We reached out to the local artist community to curate six artists for the project. One of the creatives is a local tattoo artist that also works on illustrative paintings and designs on canvas. For this project, she decided to draw a portraiture of a woman depicted as an iconic religious figure holding a baby in their hands. While many think her work is religious, she actually incorporates family members and friends into her work to present everyday people as powerful and renowned figures. Her work touches on classist society, societal norms and the devaluation of marginalized groups of people in modern society.

The owners at Rialto Poolroom appreciated the artist’s perspective and concept that challenges the thoughts of locals passing by. This hand painted portrait was part of theTogether We Grow PDX Community Art Project located across downtown Portland, Oregon.
